We socialize with others every day. Social skills are the skills we use to communicate and interact with others. Often times, we communicate with our words; however, people don't just use their words to communicate. We speak non-verbally through our use of body language, facial expressions, gestures and personal appearance.
Understanding social skills is not intuitive for everyone. Sometimes individuals need to learn social skills in direct and concreate ways, just as they would learn other skills such as reading or math.
At Weller Educational Psychology Services, we offer social skills training for both individuals and groups to promote socialization abilities and prosocial skills.
